Bartolino's South
About This Spot
Stepping into Bartolino's South feels like joining a hearty Italian family gathering where the buzz of conversation mingles warmly with the clink of glasses and the rich aromas of fresh herbs and simmering sauces. The atmosphere moves with a comfortable pace—inviting you to settle in, stretch out, and savor more than just a meal. It’s that kind of place where laughter spills easily across the table, and sharing plates becomes part of the ritual.
The dining experience here unfolds through thoughtfully prepared dishes that evoke Italy’s diverse coastal and countryside traditions. Whether you're drawn to the inviting crispness of fried calamari or the delicate richness of veal specialties, there’s an honest generosity in every portion that recalls home-cooked comfort elevated to fine dining. The menu thoughtfully spans classic pastas and risottos to unexpected touches like escargot and toasted ravioli, making each visit a small journey of discovery in familiar flavors.
Bartolino’s comfortably navigates the space between special occasion and everyday enjoyment. Its lively, occasionally bustling dining room hums with the kind of energy that happens when friends and families come together to celebrate simple moments—birthdays, reunions, or perhaps just an evening that naturally stretches as conversation and courses unfold.
Service here is attentive without interrupting, a balance that helps the space feel both intimate and accommodating. This warmth extends beyond the plate, adding to the sense that you’re not just a guest, but part of the ongoing story of this neighborhood spot. It’s a lively corner of St. Louis where good food, thoughtful company, and genuine hospitality meet in an easy harmony.

Good service, we had a large group and they really took care of us. Big menu. Huge portions - if you get a pasta you can easily share it with someone which makes it a better value. Pizza is really good as well.

Very nice place, good food, and excellent service! Def pricey! Lots of help to pay for that fabulous service! You might want to inquire price before ordering a special--my husband's was $50. He liked it, but said not worth 50! I had tortellini, delicious! Disappointed in my small Caesar salad, though. Dressing was watery and had no punch. Husband had minestrone soup, but didn't like it, too much slimy spinach he said. I had fried artichoke hearts. Four (only 4!) Were served, all very large, in buttery lemon butter sauce. They were delicious. I could have just eaten 2 orders of them for dinner! There was plenty of bread and butter, refilled. Very, very attentive service.

The place felt a little crowded and crunched together, but the food more than makes up for it. I had the seafood risotto and it did not disappoint. My first risotto ever. Great portions. We had to have someone from our party ask the owner to receive service, but after that they took good care of us. All in all it was a good first experience.

Thank you for an amazing exceptional dining experience for our company holiday outing. Everything was great, Jeff is a great server, and the host apologized for a 30 minute way beyond our reservation time, in a way unexpected. Everything was great, loved the food, and I can’t wait to come back next time.

service is truly 5 stars in every aspect. The waiter was excellent and the young lady refilling our drinks was excellent. She was very prompt and polite and made our experience the absolute best. It was a little pricy with tip 160 but well worth the cost.
